Department: Computer Science
Research Focus: I conduct research across multiple domains of AI and Cybersecurity, with a focus on cybersecurity within various disciplines (CYAD), artificial intelligence across disciplines (AIAD), AI and cybersecurity literacy, human-AI teamwork, and adversarial machine learning.
Potential Student Project(s):
• AI and Cybersecurity Literacy: framework, pedagogy, interactive modules for non-CS disciplines (mechanical engineering, leadership, K-12)
• Adversarial Machine learning
• Human-AI teamwork models
• Explainable AI (XAI)
Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate:
• Interest in AI, cybersecurity and literacy.
• Curious, takes initiative, and possesses a strong problem-solving mindset
Mentoring Plan:
The student researcher will work 5/week on the project, including a 1-on interaction with me for at least 1 hour/week. Early in the semester, I will present a portfolio of open problems spanning AI security, XAI, and cybersecurity literacy. Each student will select a topic of interest, perform literature review and experimentation, and develop a research-grade outcome with the intent of either a publication-ready paper, a conference poster, or a functional prototype for demonstration the CS TechTalk.
