Research Focus: Maternal diet and substance use in Indiana and India
Potential Student Project:
- Assist with coding in-depth interviews of data collected from pregnant women undergoing treatment with substance use disorder. Potential opportunity to collect data as well.
Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate:
- Eye for detail, creativity, disciplined, interest in coding
Mentoring Plan: We will meet once a week. We will begin with training in qualitative coding (including required readings). Then the student will be given coding tasks to complete during the week. Once training is complete, weekly meetings will be used to find consensus with coding. If opportunities arise, I will also incorporate training sessions on conducting one-on-one interviews with special populations and have the student conduct a few in the community.
