About Kris Colvin
Kris Colvin is a dedicated ASL educator at Ball State University, teaching ASL courses from beginner to advanced levels. Being Deaf and raised with ASL as his first language, he experienced both mainstream and Deaf school environments as a student, which shape his teaching and foster strong connections with students. With over five years of teaching experience, he mentors students in language skills and cultural understanding, creating an engaging classroom that empowers learners and supports advocacy for the Deaf community.
Professional Experience
Kris taught ASL and Deaf Studies at colleges in Tennessee and Mississippi for four years before joining Ball State University. He has instructed courses from beginner to advanced levels, developed curriculum, and mentored students in language skills and cultural understanding. Beyond the classroom, Kris has supported program development and community outreach for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. He holds active ASL teaching credentials and is committed to fostering inclusive, empowering learning environments.
