The goal of the Student Travel/Dissemination Program is to provide funds to assist students with travel expenses to present their work at a professional regional or national meeting or to perform or exhibit creative works. Graduate students are eligible to use these funds for publishing costs. Funding is transferred directly to an Aspire account within the department, not to the recipient. Departmental staff will administer the utilization of these funds.
All Day Event

Provides support to aid in expenses associated with publication, reprints, article processing or open access charges, page charges, and subventions. Work must be accepted for publication or published in a refereed or other scholarly journal. Support can be used for open access, peer-reviewed publications listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals or for publication in subscription journals that allow some articles to become available openly based on a published fee schedule (sometimes known as hybrid open access).
All Day Event

To provide non-tenure line (NTL) faculty up to $500 for professional activities they undertake to advance their development as scholars and teachers. This award will enable NTL faculty at Ball State to apply for workshop or conference travel for excellence in teaching; scholarly presentations; creative works exhibitions/ performances; or for professional development purposes.

The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs has set aside program funds to be awarded to tenure-line faculty members to present their research and scholarship at professional regional or national meetings or to perform or exhibit creative works. *These are not research funds or professional development funds and are designed to supplement travel funds provided by the faculty member's college and department.

Event Description: “Still Ignoring the Past: Assessing and Addressing Open Textbook Coverage of Slavery and Colonialism”While there is growing acknowledgement that textbooks should be more accessible, criminal justice Open Access textbooks are sparse – especially when considering their coverage of race and colonialism. Dr. Koslicki and Dr. Gray will discuss their Open Access textbook they authored to provide free coverage of these important issues and how these are incredibly pertinent to present-day political attacks on issues like DEI, the 14th Amendment, immigration, abortion, and more.
