Building your business expertise extends beyond the classroom. Miller College operates innovative centers, labs, and more that attract and consolidate know-how and share information across the nation.

Student Support Centers

  • Center for Actuarial Science, Insurance, and Risk Management fosters interaction between students and industry professionals, and offers industry-specific research, scholarships, endowed professorships, professionals-in-residence programs, and internship programs.
  • Center for Professional Selling prepares you for a successful career in sales and enhances and promotes Professional Selling through research and service to the business community.
  • Entrepreneurship Center faculty will teach you how to creatively identify real-world opportunities, apply a business model to your proposed solution, and then assess the feasibility of your idea.
  • Kent C. “Oz” Nelson Logistics and Supply Chain Management Center for Excellence fosters research and scholarship for students, employers, and the industry. The center features the Allegion Logistics Lab, which provides students with 24-hour access to specialized strategy and management software and 36 student workstations for homework, studying, and projects.
  • A. Umit Taftali Center for Capital Markets and Investing lab simulates a real-world financial environment that provides you with hands-on training in the workings of financial markets, financial modeling, and valuation. You will gain familiarity with critical technology applications and functionality and can work toward your Bloomberg Certified credentials.
  • TRIPhase Tech Lab provides a state-of-the-art educational space for students to refine their business plans they will present to a panel of real-world entrepreneurs and business executives on Evaluation Day or E-Day. The high-tech lab offers 24-hour access to seniors studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
  • Weidner Center for Property Management features interview rooms for companies looking to hire Property Management majors; a resource desk that has information about in-demand career options; and a public lobby with video monitors for marketing the program and industry.

Additional Hands-on Opportunities

  • Allègre Restaurant is student-run and operated through the Hospitality Innovation and Leadership program. Located inside the Applied Technology Building, Hospitality Innovation and Leadership students serve delicious breakfast and lunch to the Ball State community, campus visitors, and guests.
  • Beeman Historic Clothing Collection contains more than 3,000 pieces of men’s and women’s apparel dating back to the 1700s. Fashion Industry Studies’ students use the collection to enhance their classroom experiences.
  • Maplewood Guest House provides hands-on experience managing a boutique apartment building. Students run day-to-day operations and market the residence to medical students needing housing accommodations while working in or near East Central Indiana.

Research Centers and Institutes

  • Center for Business and Economic Research. our economic policy and forecasting research center, publishes data-rich, nonpartisan research relevant to communities and businesses throughout Indiana. Topics include regional economics, state and local tax policy, education and workforce, quality of life and community sustainability, and technology and manufacturing industry growth. 
  • Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute. through its core expertise areas of leadership and innovation, it offers a variety of programs designed to help aspiring and established professionals develop a more creative, engaging, and entrepreneurial culture. 
  • Indiana Communities Institute. Helps community leaders address modern planning and development challenges in pursuit of building stronger, more sustainable neighborhoods, towns, cities, counties, and regions.
  • Institute for the Study of Political Economy.  provides numerous opportunities for undergraduate students to access a broad range of experiences and new ideas in economics, political science, history, and beyond. It supports student and faculty research in the political economy for scholars and the general public.
