Founded in 1870 as an early suburb of Indianapolis along the National Road, Irvington is a community rich in history and identity. From the winding tree-lined streets, public parks and greenways, historic homes and community spirit, Irvington has long been a unique neighborhood in Indianapolis.
In 2005, the City of Indianapolis initiated a planning process to update the neighborhood plan that would build on the strengths of the neighborhood, identify and address issues facing the community, and discuss and develop consensus on the future direction of the area.
CAP:IC provided facilitation support, Web site support, and facilitated an urban design workshop with neighborhood residents to explore the neighborhood’s future.
