One of only a handful of true neighborhood “main streets” in Indianapolis, East 10th Street provides nearby residents with essential goods and services. Near eastside business members, neighborhood residents, and community leaders joined with CAP:IC and Ball State’s
Center for Historic Preservation on a two-part corridor improvement process. CAP:IC facilitated an urban design workshop to identify key issues and brainstorm ideas for its future.
The Center for Historic Preservation then worked with the community to develop model design guidelines to promote appropriate building renovations that would preserve historic qualities while promoting a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use corridor.
