Michael Rafter (Associate Professor of Musical Theatre) has served as music director/arranger for Sutton Foster for The New York Pops, Live From Lincoln Center, and over 100 concerts worldwide. Most recently, he was the music director/conductor of Funny Girl on Broadway. Music supervisor: Funny Girl (National Tour); associate music supervisor: Jersey Boys. Other music direction for Broadway: Violet, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Sound of Music, The King & I, Gypsy, The Most Happy Fella, Sweet Charity, Swing, Les Miserables, The Tap Dance Kid. Off Broadway: Merrily We Roll Along, Violet. Film and TV: Marriage Story, CODA, Annette, Music and Lyrics, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, The Tonight Show (Johnny Carson, Jimmy Fallon), Gypsy starring Bette Midler (Emmy for Music Direction), and Broadway’s Best on Bravo, with such artists as Trisha Yearwood, Kevin Bacon, Joan Osborne, Mandy Moore, Cyndi Lauper, Darius Rucker, and Shawn Colvin. Music supervisor: Everyday Rapture (Broadway); national tours of Buddy, Sunset Boulevard, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and The Sound of Music. Music director/ conductor: The American Songbook series at Alice Tully Hall. Conducted an evening of Jule Styne’s music: the Memphis Symphony, Tulsa Philharmonic. Music adaptation for The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Michael is a graduate of Dartmouth College. He is the very proud father of Siena Rafter.
