With 32 years of practice across the micro and macro spectrum, Mary Provence is an avid researcher of the emerging field of public library social work as a response to homelessness. In her early career, she spent four years as a street social worker with youth experiencing homelessness. Most of her macro social work practice was focused in her urban Indianapolis neighborhood where she has loved, lived, and learned for close to 30 years with an emphasis on youth mentorship and homeownership for families with low incomes. Her part-time virtual clinical practice focused on children and teens with special education needs. Dr. Provence teaches at the BSW and MSW levels, with a focus on macro social work, communities and organizations, organizational leadership, and program evaluation.
