Our department serves a double duty. Not only do we teach you how to improve and help the lives of others, but throughout your time here, you’ll learn much more about yourself. As you work as an advocate and sometimes the voice for the voiceless, you may tap an inner strength you never knew you had.
Our curriculum is designed to help you work in a variety of social work backgrounds with a diverse group of people. Continuously accredited since 1974, we are the oldest accredited undergraduate program in the state. With over 250 social work majors, we are also one of the largest BSW programs in Indiana.
If you want a career focused on helping people across the lifespan—and you love solving problems, connecting with diverse people, and making the world a better place—then a career in social work is right for you. Learn more.
Prepare for a leadership role at a nonprofit or community organization with our master of social work. Coursework and training in this program focus on rural practice, health, addictions, and gerontology. You’ll be eligible to become a licensed clinical worker (LCSW) or a licensed addiction counselor (LAC). Learn more.
If you would like to major in another area but still desire some experience in the social work field, we encourage you to choose a minor in social work. Our minor will give you a basic understanding of the profession, help you work more effectively with social work professionals in your future career, and help you understand how to work with at-risk populations.
