"In the L. Bernstein Trio, the performers demonstrated a unique melding of polyphonic voices between the piano, violin and cello, as well as fascinating chamber music ensemble mastery. The 2nd trio by A. Foote resembled the compositional style of P.I. Tchaikovsky (especially in the second movement, Tranquillo) and that of F. Schubert. All the musical material sounded sensitive and full bodied. The trio by D. Ashley White received a great reception. The public demonstrated a great deal of excitement despite the complex twelve-tone structure of the piece (a la Schoenberg). The last work on the program, J. Higdon's trio, included two "color" movements, Pale Yellow and Fiery Red. The musicians were asked back on stage seven times by the enthusiastic ovation of the audience. The American Piano Trio then performed a lovely encore by modern American composer Ned Rorem." - Karelia News (10/26/08), Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, Russia

"I loved hearing the performance [of Elegy and Exaltation]. [The Trio] are wonderful musicians...what I heard was what I intended." - David Ashley White, composer

"…The audience was truly enamored by the engaging musical interpretation of the musicians of the American Piano Trio, who successfully combined European and American traits into their music, as well as demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and extreme sensitivity to the intentions of the composer…." - Chronicle of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire (October 30, 2008)

"All this creates belief in the great potential of an ensemble that has all the strengths needed to become one of the leading piano trios of the present....astounding unity of emotional, technical and artistic virtuosity." - Alexander Tchaikovsky, People's Artist of Russia, Artistic Director - Moscow State Academic Philharmonic Society
