Studio BandThe Ball State Studio Band is the University’s premier commercial music ensemble. With a focus on funk, R&B, soul, and contemporary popular music, the band is known for its dynamic performances delivered by powerful vocalists, a tight rhythm section, and dazzling horns.

Established in 2017 as the performance group of the Music Media Production program, they have entertained crowds all across the Midwest. From neo-soul to hip-hop and R&B, the band performs its dynamic sets regularly at local and regional venues and corporate events.

Apart from regular performances, this per-audition-only ensemble is a frequent guest in the recording studio. From supporting workshops with A-list guests or serving as the backing band for high-profile recordings, this group allows students to experience commercial music performance in the most authentic way.
