Our Brand Theme
We are lifted up by our knowledge. We spark intellectual curiosity. We are here to learn, grow, and take flight. We are grounded in our values and move confidently upward toward ever greater opportunities. In classrooms and labs, on the sports fields, in immersive learning projects, and in the community— with agility and perseverance—Cardinals take flight. Ours is a simple promise: to challenge each other to excel. And with Beneficence as our guide -WE FLY.
Key Messages:
Support with outcomes and experiential learning details—placement rates, internship opportunities, career stories, organizations that are employing Ball State graduates, and top graduate schools where Ball State students are continuing their education.
Support with relevant financial aid information, such as grants, loans, and scholarships; availability of student support services on campus (and as part of the application process); and first-gen success stories. Talk about Ball State as an “Opportunity College and University,” as selected by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education- signifying our commitment to helping local graduates earn more than expected.
Call out interesting career paths that give prospects a sense of possibility—of where Ball State can take them. This doesn’t necessarily need to track with popular programs—that can be a separate message. This is more about generating excitement and/or surprising your audience. Support with specific examples of what “commitment” from Ball State looks like: financial aid, career coaching/mentoring, trending majors, state-of-the-art facilities, etc.
Make the “inspire” thought more meaningful by completing the idea and getting specific—could highlight academics, athletics, service learning, outcomes, artistic achievement, anything. We’re about more than educating students. We’re about serving our neighbors, near and far. Be sure to cite specific examples of what Ball State is actively doing, in Muncie and beyond.
Beneficence, aka, “Benny,” is much more than a six-foot-tall bronze statue that has welcomed visitors, students, and alumni to our campus since 1937. It’s a mindset and a standard we strive to deliver on every day. Beneficence is also a foundation for understanding and communicating our brand. Beneficence is the idea of who we are as a community—our deepest ideals that drive our actions and choices.
