YOU HAVE THE POWER To Change Lives

GROWTH BEYOND THE
Classroom

So much personal growth and development happens as students navigate residence hall life, student government, the Greek system, student organizations and career exploration. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for the educational part of the college experience that happens outside of the classroom. This includes supporting students wellness, health and safety, helping them discover who they are, providing opportunities for building social capital, skill development and professional connections, and creating spaces and ways to belong here.

A sense of belonging, and academic success does not come easy for students who are worried about their basic needs, book costs, home life, and whether they fit in. With your support, we will raise $19.3 million to better support our students outside of the classroom. Let’s make sure every student feels at home and cherishes their time at Ball State.

YOU HAVE THE POWER To Change Lives

Red Quote

"As a first-generation college student, I did not always feel at ease. But my mentor and advisors helped me believe in myself because of the programs and opportunities provided by Student Affairs. That is what I want to do for every student.”

FUNDING Opportunities

SUPPORT STUDENTS IN FINANCIAL NEED: $17.5M
  • Scholarships: We can do more to lift Hoosier families out of poverty and to transform communities. Together, we will create scholarship programs to help students pay for tuition, housing, books, and other elements of college that are out of their reach.
  • Microgrants: Many students are one financial crisis away from dropping out. By helping establish a fund for emergency microgrants, you can make certain that no student leaves Ball State because they are struggling to pay bills.
  • Graduation Regalia Funding: Every year, some students choose not to attend commencement ceremonies because they cannot afford the cap, gown, and other regalia. Let’s establish a fund to make certain it never happens again.

  • More Resources for Mental Health Needs: Over the last 10 years, the demand for student mental health services has increased dramatically. The Counseling Center, Health Promotion and Advocacy, and our academic colleagues are exploring innovative approaches to address the mental health of students with a focus on wellbeing and resiliency.

Indiana Connections Lounge

PROMOTE PERSONAL GROWTH: $1.5M
  • Indiana Connection Lounge and Experience: We don’t need an agenda to create meaningful connections between students, alumni, employers, and opportunities. We just need a place where guided micro-connections can be generated. Connections lead to opportunities for students who may not have been exposed to those opportunities otherwise due to lack of access or resources.
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Development Program: A strong and healthy fraternity and sorority life contributes to an engaging and meaningful college experience for students. We plan on supporting our fraternity and sorority leaders by creating a leadership development program to enhance the skills of members. It would include mentorship from experienced leaders and guidance from invested alumni.
