THE ARTS NEED
YOU

The College of Fine Arts empowers students to be creative thinkers, citizens, and problem solvers. Students experience a top-notch education here, with nationally recognized faculty members, high-profile alumni, and a curriculum that focuses on collaboration, empathy, inclusion, and hard work.

We prepare students for many futures and multiple career paths in and beyond the arts. But as the arts evolve, so must the college.

Our students are eager to change the world, but we must give them the tools to do so, and that takes investment. The College of Fine Arts has begun to raise $60 million as our part of Our Call to Beneficence. To do so, we are going to need the involvement of all CFA supporters to help keep the arts alive.

YOU HAVE THE POWER To Change Lives

Red Quote

“Every college and university values philanthropy. But few have created a tangible, enduring, iconic manifestation of that ideal that can rival our beloved statue of Beneficence. Beneficence is proof that art endures. When you support the arts, you have the opportunity to touch the lives of countless people for generations to come.”

FUNDING Opportunities

ENSURE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY & SUCCESS: $3.5M

  • The proposed Student Success Center will provide access to resources that will help students find a home at Ball State, specifically in the College of Fine Arts, and help them thrive from recruitment through graduation and beyond.
  • The Pride of Mid-America marching band has one of the lowest operating budgets for marching bands in the Mid-American Conference. Increased support for the marching band would provide permanent equipment storage, enable the performance of a wider array of music, and lessen the financial burden on students.
  • A David Owsley Museum of Art internship endowment would offer better wages to interns, making museum internships more attractive, equitable, and inclusive.
  • The addition of endowed scholarship funds will allow the Department of Theatre and Dance to offer strategic, renewable scholarships to talented students to ensure high student enrollment in all options.

ENRICH THE ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE: $63.5M
  • New Performing Arts Center: A new building will help the department recruit top talent, offer a better learning experience to students, and serve the community and patrons with pride.
  • Music Media Production Studios Update: Through expendable and endowed funds, the Music Media Production program will be able to make immediate studio updates and anticipate updates as technology evolves in order to maintain its competitive edge.
  • School of Art Expansion: Enrollment in the school has doubled since the Arts and Journalism Building opened in 2001. The school proposes enclosing an outdoor area between two existing wings to better serve our students and faculty.

EXPAND OUR CAMPUS & COMMUNITY IMPACT: $6M
  • David Owsley Museum of Art Expansion: With your support, DOMA will expand into more of the Fine Arts Building, allowing for two new gallery spaces on the third floor. The first floor will have a space focused on education, allowing for welcome and orientation for K-12 school groups and object study rooms for college students.
  • Building Downtown for the School of Art: The cultures of Muncie and Ball State are deeply interwoven. Creating a space downtown for the College of Fine Arts’ School of Art will strengthen that connection through faculty studios, community work spaces, and a community, faculty, and student gallery.
