BUILDING ON
Momentum

We are all just one unforeseen crisis away from having to put our future in the hands of a healthcare professional. With your support, the College of Health will graduate more professionals who are better prepared to save and change lives.

The new Health Professions Building opened in 2019 with 165,000 square feet of state-of-the-art training labs, clinical spaces, classrooms, and more. Now that we have a building as excellent as our faculty, Ball State is in a position to lead in health education for decades to come. No longer limited by space or technology, our new building empowers the College to turn your gift into truly transformational learning experiences—experiences that will lead to better health outcomes in Indiana and beyond.

FUNDING Opportunities

ENHANCING STUDENT SUCCESS: $4.5M

  • Student Scholarships: With your help, we can increase the amount of financial aid we offer to incoming and existing students and enable them to reach their full potential in life. Investing in students will benefit healthcare infrastructures in Indiana and beyond.
  • Student Success Center: Student success centers are a relatively new concept on campuses, but they are quickly becoming a best practice for meeting the academic, professional, and personal growth needs of students. Student success centers are a one-stop-shop for services, where students can receive course-specific tutoring, mentoring, financial assistance, and career advice.

ADVANCING INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION: $2.85M
  • Advancement and Excellence in Healthcare Simulation: Simulation bridges the gap between the academic setting and real-world practice. Your support will allow us to update our technology regularly to meet modern learning needs.
  • Integrative Immersive Learning: Modern healthcare systems need professionals who understand teamwork and collaboration. We will expand our integrative immersive learning projects and engage students in real-life, interprofessional, interdisciplinary situations.
  • Discovering Interprofessional Teamwork and Collaborative Healthcare: Medical errors occur because of poor teamwork and communication among health professionals. We will develop a virtual, multi-user 3-D escape room to support teamwork and communication in healthcare.
REDUCING COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE DISPARITIES: $5M

The Interprofessional Community Clinics trains students to embrace teamwork while working under professional medical supervision to treat actual patients from the community. The on-campus facility delivers specialty services in the areas of brain injury, eating disorders, diabetes, literacy, counseling and mental health, and physical balance, which addresses a community need. Your support will allow us to continue our mission to offer healthcare services and reduce healthcare disparities.

Your support will also allow the clinics to operate a mobile health vehicle, allowing students to bring much-needed help to rural communities. Cardinal Mobile Health Services will deliver health assessments, health screenings, and health education to at least 500 additional community members annually.

ACCELERATING RESEARCH, SCHOLARSHIP, AND INNOVATION: $2M

Our clinics see a large number of patients each year, providing a rich opportunity for health research. Unfortunately, clinic staff are too busy helping patients to dig into the data. A Research Excellence Center would provide this missing link. A community of scholars including tenure-line faculty and graduate and undergraduate students would study health issues that can lead to evidence-based improvements in care. Expanding our research capacity would also raise Ball State’s profile, help us secure millions of dollars in external funding, and enable us to recruit the best students.
