It’s a commitment to empower students to begin their careers the moment they set foot on campus—and it’s a big part of why we are so effective in preparing tomorrow’s communication professionals.

Real-world learning is essential for our students: in a fast-paced industry like ours, an education that only provides the fundamentals would put our graduates at a disadvantage. We’re committed to ensuring that they leave Ball State with experiences that put them in positions of trust, responsibility, and success—from day one. FUNDING Opportunities

ENSURE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY & SUCCESS
  • Student Success Center:  a new center to provide all students with equal access to the resources that will help them thrive, including connections to tutoring, study abroad, internships, portfolio development, and student clubs.
  • Student Financial Support: creation of a Day One Scholarship Fund to make an outstanding CCIM education available to the most promising students, regardless of their personal resources.
  • Esports: support for faculty and scholarships to help make our students leaders in the fast-growing industry of multiplayer video game competitions, including storytelling and production of live events.

ENRICH THE ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
  • How do we as a nation support and protect freedom of expression while also upholding the sanctity of truth and fact? Our proposed Center for Freedom of Expression will answer that question through faculty and student research projects, curriculum development, First Amendment training, and more.
  • Your support can help prepare students to thrive at the intersection of new technology and communication in areas such as Sports Link, the Unified Research Lab, and the Department of Media.
  • The competition for our outstanding faculty is high, and philanthropy provides the resources that help us hire and retain the best new faculty.

EXPAND OUR CAMPUS & COMMUNITY IMPACT

Ball State is expanding its vision of media in a manner that will benefit our students and our community. In a trend that is playing out across the country, East Central Indiana has seen a narrowing of regional channels for journalism, entertainment, and storytelling. Ball State’s student media and media educational experiences will create content for public media, paying off with more high-quality content available to consumers and more real-world experiences for students. Funding for student media, media education, and public media initiatives will directly contribute to quality of life in communities across our region.
