Brandon Reed began as a student at Ball State and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Theatre Design & Technology. After graduation he went on to design for live theatre, dance, opera, and concerts for over ten years before returning to Ball State as the Assistant Professor of Sound Design in 2024.

Brandon has primarily lived and worked in Chicago for over ten years but has designed across the country from Broadway to regional theatres and conferences. On Broadway he was the Assistant Sound Designer for the production Goodnight, Oscar (starring Sean Hayes), Regionally he has worked for companies such as Goodman Theatre, American Players Theatre, Lookingglass, Barter Theatre, PlayMakers Repertory Company, Cape Fear Regional Theatre, Constellation Stage & Screen, Chautauqua Theater Company, Arkansas Shakespeare, and so many others.

Professionally he was the Sound Supervisor for Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago from 2021-2023, and was the Resident Sound Designer and Audio Engineer for PlayMakers Repertory Company from 2019-2021. He was awarded the 2019 USITT Robert Cohen Sound Achievement Award and has been nominated for Joseph Jefferson, and BroadwayWorld Awards. He is also a member of the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA), and United Scenic Artists, Local 829 (USA829).

Education: Brandon holds an MFA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BS from Ball State University.
