Matthew R. Marvel is the George A. Ball Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Associate Dean at the Miller College of Business at Ball State University. Matt’s primary research focus is exploring how specific actions and learning promote, and hinder, entrepreneurial outcomes. His research has been published in
Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice,
Journal of Business Venturing,
Journal of Management Studies,
Journal of Small Business Management, and
Small Business Economics among many others.
Matt has served as Vice President and on the Executive Board for the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. He has led entrepreneurship initiatives at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Western Kentucky University, West Virginia University, and Ball State University.
Matt earned his doctorate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he received a Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship. He earned a bachelor of science in marketing from Southern Illinois University and went on to complete a master of business administration at Eastern Illinois University.
