Manoj Athavale is a Professor of Finance, former Chairperson of the Department of Finance and Insurance, and currently serves as the Associate Dean of the Miller College of Business.
Manoj holds various credentials in Accounting and worked with various business organizations before obtaining a PhD in Finance from the University of Mississippi. Before joining Ball State, Manoj has worked at the University of North Texas and Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Manoj has served as Chairperson of the Department of Finance and Insurance for over ten years. During this period, the department initiated prominent projects like the A. Umit Taftali Center for Capital Markets, the Student Managed Investment Fund, integrated the Bloomberg Professional Service in the Curriculum, and formed partnerships with the Indiana Bankers Association and First Center Financial Credit Union. In addition, the department created an academic track allowing students to meet the educational requirement necessary to take the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. It also created a personal finance component in the University Core Curriculum for every BSU student.
Manoj has varied research and teaching interests and has received numerous research and teaching awards. He has published in Financial Review, The Journal of Financial Research, Risk Management and Insurance Review, Journal of Insurance Issues, Advances in Financial Education, Journal of Financial Planning, and Financial Services Review.
