Cesar Cruz
Assistant Professor of Architecture
Dr. Cesar A. Cruz is an architectural educator with over seven and a half years of teaching experience as a full-time and adjunct faculty, and a graduate student teacher. He has taught architectural design, building structures, and history and theory at universities in Indiana, Illinois, and New Mexico. He has been published in Architectural Research Quarterly, Architecture Philosophy, and The International Journal of Architectural Theory. Dr. Cruz’s research is directed towards applying architectural phenomenology (i.e., notions of dwelling and place) to both historical and contemporary contexts. Through his research and teaching, he has found architectural phenomenology helpful in bridging the gap between place thinking and the technological production of space in the digital classroom or office. Dr. Cruz received his Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in August 2016. He is the author of the upcoming book, Puerto Rico’s Henry Klumb: A Modern Architect’s Sense of Place, due in April 2020 from Routledge Publishing.
