Requirements for an Architecture Degree
You can choose one of two degree paths in architecture:
Bachelor of Architecture
154 Credits
5 Years
Our Bachelor of Architecture program is the only undergraduate degree in the region that prepares you for a more direct route into professional licensure without requiring a professional master's degree in architecture.
BA or BS in Architecture
120 Credits
4 Years
Our Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (with a major in architecture) is ideal if you’re interested in pursuing a professional architecture degree at the master's level, at Ball State or at another institution.
Additional Requirements For Degree in architecture
- WPP 392 Writing Proficiency Exam is required your junior year. Take the prerequisites of ENG 103 Rhetoric and Writing and ENG 104 Composing Research in the freshman and sophomore years.
- ARCH 229 History of Architecture 1 will count for 3 credits in the University Core Curriculum Tier 2 Fine Arts, Design, and Humanities. ARCH 401 Architectural Design will count as a Tier 3 Core Capstone Course.
- Travel study options are also available in the summer after the second, third and/or fourth years of study. Additionally, students may opt to do a travel study in one semester of their fourth year instead of the required internship.
