Academic unit reviews are a critical element in continual improvement and are a core component of Higher Learning Commission accreditation.
Academic unit reviews:
- assess the quality and effectiveness of academic departments and colleges
- potentially modify the unit based upon the review
- further the University and Academic Affairs strategic plans
- inform ongoing unit-level planning
Hallmarks of good unit reviews are that they are evaluative, forward-looking, fair, transparent, and action-oriented. Watch this brief video recording to gain helpful tips and sage advice from unit leaders who recently completed academic unit reviews.
Ball State University has committed to a five-year, cyclical academic unit review schedule. Detailed information is found in the Academic Unit Review Guidebook.
