The Ball State University Police Department offers the training course Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) as part of UPD’s emergency preparedness training for the Ball State community.
The course provides pre-planned response options for civilians, should they be faced with an active-shooter event.
The course teaches the concepts Avoid, Deny, Defend and helps students understand how to apply these concepts in an actual emergency. Over 8,700 Ball State community members have already participated in the training.
The entire course length runs 90 minutes and includes a PowerPoint presentation, lecture, videos and an opportunity to ask questions.
