DOMA Student Employment

DOMA employs Ball State students for various roles, including visitor assistants and museum guards. When position openings occur, the opportunity is always posted on Cardinal Career Link.

Currently, Ball State students are invited to apply to be a Museum Guard & Visitor Assistant through the button below, but must first visit the Cardinal Career Link to obtain a Student Employment Referral for posting #811. The Referral you receive from the Career Center must then be uploaded with the application for it to be considered.

DOMA also offers semester-long internships that provide hands-on, practical experience for students interested in exploring the museum profession. Internships for students are available for credit or no credit. An internship is 150 hours and must be completed over the course of the semester during normal business hours at the David Owsley Museum of Art.

A museum internship is a project-based, prearranged, structured learning experience, scheduled within a specific time frame. It should be relevant to both the intern's stated academic and professional goals, and to the museum's needs and interests.

Ball State students interested in an internship must first visit the Cardinal Career Link online to obtain a Student Employment Referral for posting #10627 in the few weeks prior to the application deadline (see below for typical dates; specific windows for application will be announced through the Ball State Comm Center) and include the subsequent referral note in their application materials. Students may then complete the online volunteer and internship application, and submit the following:

  • Career Center referral note
  • resume
  • transcript
  • two professional and/or academic letters of reference (optional)
  • cover letter stating your museum internship interests as they relate to your career goals
