The GIS Research and Map Collection (GRMC) offers a substantial collection of cartographic resources, GIS software, consultative and instructional services to advance GIS research, expert mapping assistance, and cartographic reference and instructional services using a wide-ranging collection of geospatial materials.

The GIS Research and Paul W. Stout Map Collection is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m during the academic year and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the summer semesters.

  • Work with GIS and Map Collection staff (in person, online, or via email) for assistance in locating and using collections and other resources or to receive personalized research assistance.
  • Request an online or in-person extended research consultation with expert GIS and Map personnel.
  • Collaborate with GRMC personnel to create custom maps, lessons, and educational activities for use in the K-12 classroom and commemorative exhibits.
  • Consult GIS research guides.
  • Access online training including ESRI E-Learning and GRMC-created tutorials.
  • Schedule instruction or orientation sessions customized for your courses by contacting Lorey Stinton for GIS instruction or Melissa Gentry for Map Collection instruction.
