Student Success Coach
I see student success as an act of self-reclamation.
As a student success coach, I support students in navigating majors, careers, academic planning, and university life. I also serve as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies, where I have the opportunity to engage students in critical thinking, self-reflection, and communication practices that shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. My academic background in communication informs much of my coaching philosophy, particularly my interest in identity, meaning-making, and the stories we tell ourselves.
My approach is grounded in holistic development and the understanding that the relationship we have with ourselves influences everything else: our confidence, decisions, goals, relationships, and capacity to grow. I am deeply interested in intrapersonal communication, particularly how we speak to ourselves, make meaning of our experiences, and develop our sense of identity. I invite students into conversations that are both practical and reflective, challenging them to move beyond who they think they should be and toward a deeper understanding of who they are and who they hope to become. Working with me is not simply about finding answers. It is about asking meaningful questions. Together, we explore strengths, values, purpose, and possibility while developing the tools needed to navigate both college and life with greater clarity and intention. I believe every student already possesses wisdom, resilience, and potential. My role is to help create the conditions for those qualities to be recognized, trusted, and fully expressed.
Outside of my work, you'll often find me outdoors appreciating the beauty of nature, especially trees, plants, and the quiet lessons they have to offer. I'm an avid animal lover and never miss an opportunity to admire the birds, squirrels, and other creatures that share our spaces. I also have a deep love for rhetorical criticism. In fact, my wife and I rarely make it through a movie without stopping to analyze the messages, symbols, arguments, and cultural narratives woven throughout the story.
