Data governance standardizes for an institution how data is defined, produced, used, stored, and destroyed. These standards enable and enhance organizational effectiveness and data-informed decisions.

At Ball State University, data governance is guided by a framework and managed by the Management Information and Data Analytics Strategy (MIDAS). Comprised of two committees, MIDAS is led by representatives of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, the Chief Strategy Officer, and Information Technology.

The MIDAS Steering Committee provides oversight and guidance to the MIDAS Data Group to ensure the creation of a robust data and analytics environment that enables actionable insight by University decision-makers to support strategic decision-making and student success.

The MIDAS Data Management Committee works to create a robust data environment that supports strategic decision making and student success. The MIDAS Data Management Committee meets biweekly to work toward reaching four key goals:
