At Ball State, 80 percent of our students are eligible for financial aid. The Department of Psychological Science offers several scholarships to help you pursue your bachelor’s degree.

For Tuition
Mrs. Louise Clark established the award to honor her husband, who was a professor and valued colleague in the Department of Psychological Science.

Criteria

Major in Psychology at Ball State University.

Pauline Renke established this fund in memory of her husband, who served in our department for 25 years. The intent is both to assist a deserving student and to honor the memory of a distinguished faculty member. In particular, this award is designed to encourage students to implement the values that Bill Renke lived by, including dedication to promoting the happiness of others and commitment to excellence in one’s profession and the fair and ethical treatment of others.

Criteria

  • Major in Psychology at Ball State University.
  • Have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Mrs. Doris Hill established this award to honor her husband, who was the first chair of the Department of Psychological Science. The purpose of the award is to honor and assist students who demonstrate excellence and the ideals that Dr. Robert Hill Jr. strongly endorsed and encouraged.

Criteria

  • Major in Psychology at Ball State University.
  • Have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The award was established together with the Dr. Whitney Gordon Scholarship by Dr. Vaneeta-marie D'Andrea to honor the Gordons, both of whom were excellent teacher-scholars at Ball State University. The purpose of the award is to honor and assist students who demonstrate a history of or interest in community service and disadvantaged populations. The Dr. Hilda Gordon Scholarship is awarded to a student in the Department of Psychological Science in even years and the Dr. Whitney Gordon Scholarship is awarded to a student in the Department of Sociology in odd years.

Criteria

  • Must be a sophomore, junior or senior.
  • Major in Psychology at Ball State University.
  • Grades are not criteria or condition for eligibility or consideration.
  • Community service work or interest in disadvantaged populations is weighed favorably and encouraged.

For the Clark, Hill and Gordon scholarships, no application is necessary; please watch for communication from the university if you are chosen as a recipient.

The Don T. and Geneva E. Sprague Scholarship for Student Travel

This scholarship is designed to be used to reimburse students for up to $100 of expenses incurred in the presentation of research or other scholarly work at a regional or national conference (i.e., American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, Indiana Psychological Association, etc.) including reimbursement of conference registration, hotel, travel, per diem, and miscellaneous expenses.

Criteria

  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate student
  • Major or pursue a master’s in psychological science at Ball State University.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or better on a scale of 4.0.
  • Complete an application approved/signed by a faculty mentor.

How to Apply

Applications will be accepted throughout the year on an ongoing basis. Submit printed application forms signed by a faculty mentor to the Chair of the Resources Committee in North Quad 104.
