The Ball State University Viola Choir (BSUVC) is an award-winning ensemble that was founded by Prof. Katrin Meidell in 2013. The group plays arranged and original music that spans from the Baroque era to recently composed works, and ranges from works for three players to works for eight or more players.
The ensemble comprises a mix of viola majors, faculty, and other students, and it aims to encompass its audience in a body of sound variations that show the range, timbre, color, and beauty that can only be produced by the viola.
The BSUVC can be seen on campus giving recitals and performing in string area recitals, and at other invitational events such as the 2015 Society of Composers Inc. conference.
The ensemble aims to increase awareness of and passion for this often-neglected string instrument and has a lot of fun doing so.
“Viola Choir is a great time to enjoy viola with other violists who also enjoy violaing.”
