High stakes. Real-world, hands-on curriculum. Real risk of failure. If you want to be the best and you're willing to put everything on the line—including your graduation—Ball State’s entrepreneurship and innovation major is right for you.
Our distinctive, intense—and nationally ranked—program is designed to function as closely to the real world as possible and will prepare you for an exciting career as an entrepreneurial leader. If you're ready to rise to the challenge, we want you here.
You won't just learn about entrepreneurship in our program. You will be an entrepreneur. Through our Entrepreneurship Center, you'll take what you learn in the classroom and apply it directly to the professional world from the get-go. You'll work directly with clients on consulting projects, gain real-world experience during internships, and meet and learn from accomplished entrepreneurs who lecture on campus—all of which our center makes possible. Learn more about the center.
The entrepreneurship and innovation major consists of at least 120 credits divided into four groups of courses: The University Core Curriculum, business foundation courses, specialized entrepreneurial management courses, and general electives to round out your degree. You must complete ENT 241 before your junior year.
Core classes begin the fall semester of your junior year. Over the next two years, you'll develop a full business plan and then present it to a panel of alumni and executives during your final semester in our capstone course, New Venture Creation. This is E-Day: the "senior sweat," the culminating trial right before you graduate.
A few of the classes you will take include:
- The Entrepreneurial Experience
- Opportunity Identification
- Product and Service Design
- Business Model Generation
- Entrepreneurial Decision Making
