The Financial Analyst concentration equips students with the tools to evaluate financial data and assess company performance using a blend of accounting, economic, and financial principles.
In addition to the finance core required for all majors, students in this concentration complete advanced coursework in finance, accounting, and economics. You’ll gain a working knowledge of financial statement preparation, macroeconomic theory, and analytical frameworks used across the financial industry.
This concentration prepares students for fulfilling roles such as:
- Financial analyst
- Investment banking analyst
- Corporate finance analyst
- Budget analyst
- Risk analyst
- Portfolio analyst
- Credit analyst
- Wealth management associate
- Financial planning analyst
- Equity research analyst
- Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Students pursuing this path are encouraged to take the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams, which are often expected for advancement in analyst roles. Ball State’s program is part of the CFA Institute University Recognition Program, which acknowledges institutions that closely align their curriculum with the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and emphasize ethical and professional standards.
Eligible students may also apply for CFA Institute scholarships to help offset exam registration costs.
