A student presenting at the Cardinal Screenplay Festival

As the only cross-college minor at Ball State (English/Media), the minor in film and screenwriting delivers a foundation in film theory/analysis while also enabling you to learn the ins and outs of compelling storytelling for the screen.

With its unique focus on both film theory and screenwriting craft, the minor in film and screenwriting will help you grow the storytelling and story analysis skills that are marketable in the media and entertainment industries and beyond.

You'll develop a greater understanding of how films work and what they can mean. You'll get a sense of where film came from and where it's going. You'll practice the storytelling skills that employers value. You'll put the movies in your mind's eye onto the page.
