Image capture is often the most effective way to document the effects of sun upon or within a model. That is not to say, however, that every heliodon session must include image capturing. Often, successful sessions involve only observation and consideration as a first-hand input to an ongoing design process without worrying about the logistics of documentation.

As a rule, if one chooses to document a session, the session will take a longer amount of time and will require more preparation than a simple observational session. Of course, this means that the user may have time to do fewer things and observe fewer variations within a booked time slot.

There are several options for documenting a session. The user may utilize the CERES specialized imaging equipment with the assistance of the CERES Heliodon staff member. Alternatively, personal video or still camera equipment may be used.
