The student would be an assistant to get the paper ready for publication and learn more about the given topic. The student could be an author on the papers.

Another project involves depicting local data on substance use in an infographic format, to be distributed to local school districts.

Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate:

  • Able to understand basic statistical data and willing to learn how to do graphs on Excel in order to put the data into an infographic format.

Mentoring Plan: The student will work on this project for 5 hours each week including one hour of 1-on-1 interaction with me. The student will meet with me in-person or via Zoom to talk about the week's progress and also tasks for the upcoming week. I am happy to review the writing and talk about ways to improve the sentences, look for specific articles, and talk about what they are learning, both professional and in terms of the content area.
