Research Focus: Exploring neruodiversity and design education related to urban and rural landscapes.

 

Potential Student Project(s):

We are learning more about neurodiversity everyday. This project will look at how neurodiverse students learn in a studio learning format. Studio learning is special and different from other forms of learning in a university and is usually found in design and art programs. This project seeks to understand:
1. the experience of neurodiverse students in a studio setting
2. ways studios can help neruodiverse students succeed

You will learn about qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis, observation, and academic writing.

 

Attributes/skills/background sought in undergraduate:

Design, architecture, curious, basic psychology, organized.

 

Mentoring Plan:

Student commits to a total of 5 hours a week on the project. Meet one-on-one remotely and/or in-person 1 hour a week. Attend meetings, in person or online, with experts. Complete literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, writing.

Faculty commits to collaborate and guide student in a project that advances the research project with clear expectations and outcomes that are achievable within the time commitment. Submit to a peer reviewed conference and write a peer-reviewed journal article with student The student researcher will work 5 h/week on the project including a 1-on-1 interaction with me for at least 1 hour/week.
