Before submitting a proposal to an external funding source, you will need to route it for internal approval.
Once your budget is fully developed and the proposal narrative is suitable for review, your proposal will be routed for all required University approvals by your SPA Proposal Manager.
These approvals must be completed through the AOR before the proposal may be submitted. In some cases, depending on the faculty team, required approvals may include multiple departments and colleges.

Cayuse Research Suite
Cayuse is a set of integrated, web-based software modules that deliver flexibility and control in research administration.
Ball State’s Research Suite consists of two modules: Cayuse SP and Cayuse 424.
- Cayuse SP is used for developing and managing proposal submissions; as well as monitoring and tracking award activity throughout the project’s lifecycle.
- Cayuse424 will strictly be used by SPA for web-based federal submissions.

All proposals are initially developed by your department’s Proposal Manager.
