The Cardinal Legacy Award, not to be confused with the Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship Award, was initiated by the university to recruit and retain out-of-state students.

Children and grandchildren of Ball State alumni who are undergraduate students are eligible for the award, which provides $2,500 for each academic year enrolled. Prospective students must be admitted as out-of-state students to be considered for the stipend.

The award was initiated during the 1999–2000 academic year. Once admitted, students will receive the award annually, renewable for a maximum of eight semesters. Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher to remain eligible.

There is no application deadline, but it is best to turn in the application before fall bills are mailed. For more information, call The Office of the Registrar or email bsualumni@bsu.edu.
