The Ball State University Board of Trustees on Friday reappointed Mark Ervin to the Muncie Community Schools (MCS) Board of Trustees. Also at Friday’s meeting, the Board approved the budget, scope, and naming of the University’s new Eric Foss Championship Performance Center, and the naming of the Rhonda Newport Kaspar Stage and Timothy M. Andrews Monumental Stair within the new Performing Arts Center.

Geoffrey S. Mearns, president of Ball State University, has selected Jeff Mitchell as the Cardinals’ new director of athletics. Mr. Mitchell will join Ball State after serving as deputy director of athletics at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., since 2018.

Mr. Bothof succeeds Beth Goetz, who has accepted a position as deputy director of athletics and chief operating officer at the University of Iowa Athletics Department.

Alexa McDonaldBall State University May 2022 graduate Alexa McDonald, of Hilliard, Ohio, has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in recognition of her accomplishments in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, and community service. A member of Ball State’s Swimming and Diving team from 2018-2022, Ms. McDonald was one of only 21 female Spring sport athletes nationwide to receive this $10,000 scholarship.
