Health Center Fees and Your Insurance

In order to receive services at the Health Center, students must pay the Health Fee each semester.

The Health Fee covers office visits and plan of care by a physician or nurse practitioner at the Health Center.

Costs and Fees

The Health Fee covers office visits and plan of care by a physician or nurse practitioner at the Health Center.  For up-to-date information on the current pricing for the Health Fee, visit Student Financial Services.

There may be out-of-pocket costs during a visit at the Health Center that is not covered by the Health Fee.  The Health Center does not bill any insurance for services provided at the time of a visit.  The cost of these services is often minimal and may even be less than the typical deductible paid to your insurance.

If you want to have any services billed to insurance, we recommend you contact your insurance company.  They will be able to direct you to a local primary care provider in your insurance network with whom you can establish as a new patient.  Otherwise, cost of services provided at the Health Center must be paid at the time of the visit or they can be put on your Ball State University Student Financial Services E-bill account to be paid later.  The Health Center is able to accept Credit/Debit cards for the cost of services.

Important : Please call and speak to nursing staff to discuss current pricing (or cost) for lab tests sent to IUHealth lab if you do not have health insurance.

Insurance can be used for any laboratory testing sent from the Health Center to the IUHealth lab.

It is your responsibility to determine if IUHealth lab is in-network for your insurance.  If IUHealth lab is not in-network, your cost may be substantially higher.  Only your insurance can tell you if the cost of lab testing will be covered. Please bring your insurance card or a copy of the front and back of your card with you to your visit for these additional costs.
