Ball State is located in Muncie, Indiana, a midsized city about one hour northeast of Indianapolis and just off Interstate 69 at exit 241 (Indiana 332). If you're flying, consider travel through the Indianapolis International Airport and renting a car.

Northeast

Northeast

  1. Take I-69 South to exit 241 (Muncie/Frankton).
  2. Turn left onto Highway 332 (McGalliard Road).
  3. Follow Highway 332 for approximately 8 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue (the fifth stoplight).
  4. Turn right onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.
  5. Take Bethel Avenue to the second stoplight and turn right onto McKinley Avenue.
  6. Follow McKinley Avenue through campus to your designated parking area.

North Central

  1. Take Highway 33 South to I-69 South.
  2. Take I-69 to exit 241 (Muncie/Frankton).
  3. Turn left onto Highway 332 (McGalliard Road).
  4. Follow Highway 332 for approximately 8 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue (the fifth stoplight).
  5. Turn right onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.

Northwest

  1. Take I-65 South to I-865 East, which becomes I-465 East, to I-69 North.
  2. Take I-69 North to exit 241 (Muncie/Frankton).
  3. Turn right onto Highway 332 (McGalliard Road).
  4. Follow Highway 332 for approximately 8 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue (the fifth stoplight).
  5. Turn right onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.

Southwest

  1. Take I-65 North or I-69/Highway 37 North to I-465 North.
  2. Take I-465 North to I-69 North, and take I-69 North to exit 241 (Muncie/Frankton).
  3. Turn right onto Highway 332 (McGalliard Road).
  4. Follow Highway 332 for approximately 8 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue (the fifth stoplight).
  5. Turn right onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.
  6. Take Bethel Avenue to the second stoplight and turn right onto McKinley Avenue.
  7. Follow McKinley Avenue through campus to your designated parking area.

Southeast

  1. Take I-74 West to Highway 3 North.
  2. Take Highway 3 North to Muncie, where you’ll see a sign for Highway 3 North/Portland.
  3. Follow Highway 3 North as it exits off to your right and merges with Highways 35 and 67 around the east side of Muncie. (Ignore the sign directing you to go straight for Ball State.)
  4. Follow this bypass to the McGalliard Road exit (first stoplight).
  5. Turn left onto McGalliard Road. Follow McGalliard for approximately 4 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue.
  6. Turn left onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.
  7. Take Bethel Avenue to the second stoplight and turn right onto McKinley Avenue.
  8. Follow McKinley Avenue through campus to your designated parking area.

Central Ohio

  1. Take I-70 West to exit 149 in Richmond, Indiana, which is Highway 35 North.
  2. Take Highway 35 North to Muncie. Highway 35 merges with Highways 67 and 3 around the east side of Muncie. (Ignore the sign directing you to go straight for Ball State.)
  3. Follow this bypass to the McGalliard Road exit (first stoplight).
  4. Turn left onto McGalliard Road. Follow McGalliard for approximately 4 miles until you come to Tillotson Avenue.
  5. Turn left onto Tillotson Avenue. Follow Tillotson to the first stoplight and turn left onto Bethel Avenue.
  6. Take Bethel Avenue to the second stoplight and turn right onto McKinley Avenue.
  7. Follow McKinley Avenue through campus to your designated parking area.

Designated Parking Areas

Permit-free parking is available on campus for students and families attending Orientation. Where you'll park depends on which Orientation program you are attending.

For this on-campus program in June or July, see the parking options below. 

  • Overnight Housing Parking: If you are staying overnight in a residence hall, you may park in the C1 Commuter Parking Lot.
  • Orientation Day Parking: If you are not staying overnight in a residence hall, you may park in the New York Avenue Parking Garage (Levels 3-4 only).
  • Disability Parking: If you have a disability license plate or hangtag, please contact the Office of Orientation for accommodations.

For an on-campus program during the academic year, parking is available in the New York Avenue Parking Garage.
