Final transcripts and course descriptions received before and upon arrival at Ball State will be evaluated as soon as possible following the new-student orientation.

We will not grant credit for academic records presented after a student’s first term of study at Ball State, unless prior arrangements were made in writing by our office.

Transfer credits are evaluated for courses with an equivalent U.S. grade of C or above. Transcripts must be in English to be evaluated for credit. Transfer credits are recommended by the Office of International Admissions. Once recommendations are made, your academic advisor will work with you and your course descriptions to award credit.

Submitted course descriptions should be in English and approved by your academic advisor from your home institution. The course descriptions should match up with the courses that you have completed on your academic transcript and explain details regarding the material that was covered in the course.

Ball State awards up to 30 credit hours to students who receive a full International Baccalaureate (IB) and have earned grades of 5 or better in their three higher-level exams.

Students who have not earned a full diploma may receive credit by earning the required score in a specific subject.

See a list of IB courses, required scores, and credits (PDF).

To earn credit, students should request their official transcript from IB be sent to Ball State University.

Transfer credit may be awarded for successfully completed A and AS levels. An exam score of D or higher must be achieved in order to receive transfer credit for a subject. No transfer credit will be awarded for O levels.

To earn credit, students must submit a scanned copy of official exam scores by email to INTADMIT@bsu.edu.
