Prospective Student Athletes

As a Ball State student-athlete, you will be surrounded by a dedicated professional staff committed to helping you achieve your academic goals. Ball State views our student-athletes as students first and places a high priority on academic success. As such, in a typical semester, more than half of our student-athletes achieve at least a 3.50 GPA and make the Dean’s List each semester. Each year Ball State student-athletes compete for highest collective academic progress rate and GPA in the MAC, including being awarded the Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award recently in 2021-22 and 2023-24.

As an incoming or prospective student-athlete, you will work with your sport’s Ball State coaching staff to complete the admissions process. Please communicate with your coaches if you have questions.

Need to Register for Orientation?

Visit Ball State's Undergraduate Admissions site to register for orientation, confirm your enrollment as a student, or apply to attend Ball State.

Getting Started: Orientation

Once you are admitted to Ball State and confirmed your enrollment through the admissions process you must register for Orientation. The invitation to register for Orientation will be sent to your new Ball State email address that will be provided to you upon admission.

  • Before Orientation: Before you attend orientation, please submit all your earned college credit through the admissions process. This may include dual credit that you took at your high school, Advanced Placement (AP) credit or other standardized test scores, or transfer credit from a different college or university. All college credit must be received by Ball State in an official college transcript from the college or university that issued the credit, or official test scores from the issuer. Learn more.
  • During Orientation: At orientation, you will meet with a Student Athlete Support Services (SASS) academic advisor, register for classes, learn more about our supportive resources, and build relationships with your future classmates. Additionally, be sure to connect with your coaching staff to get your medical physical scheduled while you are on campus for orientation.
