Why Strategic Communication Major? Every organization across various fields, whether for-profit or non-profit, needs an expert to create evidence-based communication plans to effectively reach their target audience through both online and offline channels.

We are media content creators. Strategic communicators work to generate creative content and communication strategies for all media platforms—social media, digital media, website, blogs, podcasts, videos, apps, and more!

We are decision makers. Strategic communicators apply research, critical thinking, and analytical skills to develop effective messaging and planning for high-impact initiative - such as advertising and public relations campaigns, sports promotion and branding, events, influencer marketing, audience analysis, and AI-driven strategic campaigns. They represent organizations with the aim of shaping brand image and reputation.

Concentration Areas

All SJSC students are required to complete 27-33 credits of core courses. In addition to these core credits, each major or concentration requires an additional 15-18 credits. Consequently, students can pursue multiple majors or concentrations within SJSC’s three main fields— Journalism, Media Design and Development, and Strategic Communication— across 8 different concentrations, while fulfilling the 120-credit university requirement for graduation.
