Research Interests
My research focus is in spatial abilities, and my niche is navigation and spatial reorientation guided by non-visual cues – e.g., finding your way by relying on sounds in the environment and the slant of the ground. This has important implications for mobility in conditions of low visibility and for those of us with visual impairments. I am also interested in gender, age, and individual differences in spatial thinking: why are some of us better at navigating than others?
