Continual growth and development throughout a career is one hallmark of a true professional. During each term of study as a music education major, students will exhibit a commitment to professional growth and development by earning professional development points. Points will be awarded as outlined in the Professional Development Policy.

SPRING 2022 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

  • Complete the EduRisk onilne training Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Sexual Misconduct. Access this via the EduRisk Training link in MyBallState. Print and submit the certificate of completion. This can only count once (during the first term it is completed in MUSE 100 or 150). Category 5 (20 pts.)
    Note: This is now required for students observing/participating in all field settings. It takes approximately 1 hour and is free.
  • Complete one or both of the following Hearing Health items:
  • Professional Webinars: You must submit proof of attendance (receipt or signed log) and a reflection statement. (25 points)  Example: NAfME Academy and NAfME's Virtual Learning Resources for Music Educators.

  • Jan. 13-15: IMEA Professional Development Conference. Hundreds of sessions. Each qualifying session: 25 pts. for members, 20 pts. for non-members.

  • Feb. 7 (Mon). ACDA sponsors “Sight Singing Session” with ACDA Student Exec’s. 1 pm in MU 113. 25 PD pts for members; 20 PD pts for non-members.

  • Feb. 16-19 (Wed-Sat). ACDA Midwestern Regional Conference. Chicago, IL. Various sessions held throughout the conference. Each qualifying session: 25 PD pts for members; 20 PD pts for non-members. Performance attendance will not count.

  • Feb. 23 (Wed). CNAfME sponsors Jackie Nason speaking on Communicating with the Administration. 6 pm in MU 309. 25 PD pts for members; 20 PD pts for non-members.

  • Mar. 2 (Wed): CNAfME sponsors “Fostering Improvisation and Creativity in the Elementary General Music Classroom Using the Orff Approach,” Ian Clerget, MM in Music Education Candidate. 7:30-9:00 pm, MU 401. 25 pts. for members, 20 pts. for non-members.
