Jeremy Harmon
Assistant Teaching Professor of Music (Band)
Dr. Jeremy Harmon is serving his first year as the Director of the Ball State University “Pride of Mid-America” Marching Band in Muncie, Indiana. His duties include directing the “POMA” Marching Band, pep bands, conductor of the Wind Symphony, as well as other courses. He previously served as the Director of Athletic Bands at Bowling Green State University, Director of Bands at Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, VA, and Director of Bands at Vinton County Local Schools in McArthur, OH.
A native of Dover, Ohio, Dr. Harmon received his Bachelor of Music Education at Ohio University (2011), Master of Music degree in Music Education at Ohio University (2016), and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the University of Kentucky (2021). He is currently active as an arranger and drill writer for the Ball State University Marching Band, University of Kentucky Wildcat Marching Band, and also arranges for the University of Maryland "Mighty Sound of Maryland" Marching Band, the Ohio University Marching 110, and numerous high schools around the country.
His primary teachers have included Dr. Cody Birdwell (Conducting), Dr. Richard Suk, Dr. Andrew Trachsel (Conducting), and Dr. Matthew James (Saxophone). Dr. Harmon is a member of various professional and honorary societies including Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, as well as affiliations with the College Band Directors National Association, the Ohio Music Educators Association (Professional Development Conference Clinician), and the National Association for Music Education.
