James A. Rankin, PhD is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Honors. Courses taught by Dr. Rankin focus on the societal understanding of science and statistics, including how misinformation develops and spreads (HONR 199), how advanced statistical techniques appear in everyday life (HONR 390), and how different societies approach health and medicine (HONR 189).  
 
Dr. Rankin's research focuses on neurodiversity (ie., ADHD, autism) and clinical psychology. His recent work has focused on supporting autistic adults' psychological well-being through mindfulness and self-advocacy. 
 
Dr. Rankin received his Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology (with a minor in Statistics) from The University of Alabama. He completed an American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited pre-doctoral psychology internship at Indiana University School of Medicine and completed post-doctoral studies at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. As part of his clinical training, Dr. Rankin has provided clinical services in a variety of settings including schools, outpatient clinics, medical centers, and inpatient residential treatment centers.
