Bangshuai Han
Professor of Water Resources
Education:
Ph.D. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY, 2012
M.Sc. Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, 2008
B.Sc. Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China, 2005
Current Research:
I am an interdisciplinary physical geographer and hydrologist whose research examines how social and biophysical factors influence water resources, both now and in the future. My current work focuses on microplastics in aquatic and terrestrial environments, using a systems-based approach that integrates social and natural sciences through physical and chemical experiments, GIS, and computational modeling.
I remain broadly engaged in four interconnected areas through collaborative research, teaching, and outreach activities:
1. Impacts of climate and land-use change on water resources and water quality
2. Hydrodynamics, hyporheic exchange, and ecological functions in river management
3. Watershed hydrology
4. Cross-scale hydrologic modeling and experimentation
