Dr. Timothy Xeriland's research focus centers on affective and attentional computing within intelligent learning environments. Specifically, Dr. Xeriland explores disengagement-detecting interventions and their connection to a theory that integrates cognitive and emotional aspects to enhance student reengagement. Through his work, Dr. Xeriland has developed a novel emotion regulation strategy called formative reappraisal, which incorporates antecedent-focused and response-focused techniques.
